Below are some of the commonly asked questions for the Snowy Mountains Bus trial.

The public transport fare for the Jindabyne to Perisher or Thredbo services for an adult is $21 return or $12 one way. The child/concession fare is $11 return or $6 one way. All fares are inclusive of the Kosciuszko National Park fee.

The Jindabyne to Skitube service fare for an adult is $15 return or $8 one way. The child/concession fare is $7 return or $4 one way.

  • The Season Ticket is valid from 10 June to 01 October on any route at any time between Jindabyne and Perisher or Thredbo, as well as the Park & Ride service. It is not possible to reserve a seat, so travel is subject to availability.
  • The Weekly Ticket is valid for 7 days and is valid between Jindabyne and Perisher, or Jindabyne and Thredbo at any time, as well as the Park & Ride service. It is not possible to reserve a seat, so travel is subject to availability.

Unfortunately, the service does not have the capability for customers to use their Opal cards to pay for their trip. Customers are encouraged to purchase their tickets online before they travel, or they can purchase on the bus using a credit card.

There is a baggage limit to 1x20kg per person, which is required to be stated in your booking. Each bus service will have capacity for ski equipment such as skis, snowboards and boots to be transported to the snow fields. Customers with luggage are encouraged to travel on off-peak services in the middle of the day.

There are several bus stops within Jindabyne where customers can catch the bus.
The routes start in Jindabyne at Reedys Cutting Road, before making stops at 48 Gippsland Street, 20 Banjo Patterson Crescent, and the Snowy Region Visitor Centre. Selected morning services start at the Station Resort before stopping at the other Jindabyne pick up points. Each bus will be clearly marked with its destination.

This year we’ve introduced an extended route servicing East Jindabyne via Tyrolean Village. Buses will run approximately every 60 minutes. For exact timing please see our timetable.

Transport for NSW is trialling the service to measure the customer and community response, along with identifying any issues that may effect on-time running. At the end of the trial an assessment of the service will be made. We are encouraging people who use the service to provide their feedback as this helps us shape future services.

Buses will run hourly each day. Services to Perisher run every 30 minutes during peak periods (Friday to Sunday between 6am-10am and 2pm-6.30pm). For exact timing please see our timetable.

The Jindabyne to Perisher and Thredbo service is approximately a 45-minute journey, depending on weather and road conditions. The East Jindabyne service will take approximately 20 minutes, depending on weather and road conditions.
Pick up and drop off location at Perisher is the bus stop outside the Ski Tube station. In Thredbo, pick up and drop off is the coach stop adjoining the Friday Flat car park.

Customers are encouraged to pre-book their tickets online to avoid disappointment. Buses will indicate if they are full and customers who haven’t pre-booked will need to wait until the next available service.

Your booking confirmation email will provide instructions for how to change/cancel your ticket. One-way, return, family, and weekly tickets cancelled more than 24 hours ahead of departure will be eligible for a refund. Customers will receive their ticket/s via email so there is no need to print tickets. Drivers will also be provided with a list of ticket holders for each service, meaning lost tickets are a thing of the past.
Child tickets are available for children aged between 5 and 15 years of age. Children under 5 years old do not require a ticket to use the service but are expected to ride on the lap of an accompanying adult.
Concession tickets are available for students over the age of 16 (with a valid student identification card) and pensioners, concessions and seniors (with a valid Australian Government issued pension, concession and seniors card). Adult tickets are required for any person over 16 years with no applicable concession or student identification card.
Family tickets are available for 2 adults and 2 children travelling together.
